A few open source tools are covered in detail, and are presented primary function: administration and management, data engineering, analytics and data science, and data security tools.  A survey of Apache Software Foundation projects, such as Apache Hadoop, Spark, and Iceberg, and projects from the Linux Foundation like Kubernetes, MLflow, SPIFFE and SPIRE, is presented.
